Rangers’ Future in Doubt as Goldson and Cantwell Consider Moves Transfer Talks with Connor Goldson According to manager Philippe Clement, Connor Goldson, the vice captain of the Rangers, is now in talks with a team that has made a “concrete offer” for him.

Prior to Rangers’ 2-1 friendly loss to Birmingham City, Goldson left the team to have discussions with his prospective new team, the identity of which is still unknown.

Goldson, who has been a key player for the Rangers since 2018, has contributed to the team’s three championship victories.

His Ibrox contract expires in2026, and he has been linked to Birmingham and the Cypriot team Aris Limassol in rumors.

Before the game, Philippe Clement stated on RangersTV, “Connor was supposed to start today.” He has a tangible offer, therefore I gave him permission to go and talk to this team.

Todd Cantwell Makes a Transfer Request Todd Cantwell has made an unexpected step by submitting a transfer request.

According to Clement, the midfield player, who moved from Norwich City in January 2023, is looking for a “new adventure.” The manager explained his choice to leave Cantwell out of the friendly against Birmingham City after the game.

Clement explained, “A while ago, Todd came to my office to say he wanted to look for another adventure and to make another step. We had a long talk because we have a good relationship.

I told him to think really well about that because Rangers is a fantastic club and that I would give him time.

But he’s come back to say that that’s what he wants, so I need to focus on the moment, all the players who are here in the building with their minds to play in August, to play the qualifying games and the league games.”

Cantwell is now training with Rangers’ B team until a new club is found. Clement added, “We need to find solutions at the number 10 position.”
