Lawrence Shankland will pay for himself “10 times over” if Rangers can strike a deal for the Hearts forward

If the Rangers are able to get a deal done for the Hearts attacker, Keith Jackson has stated that Lawrence Shankland will pay for himself “ten times over.” Shankland, 28, is approaching the last 12 months of his Tynecastle contract. According to the Daily Record, the Gers intend to make a player-plus-cash bid for him. Since Shankland was linked to Ibrox during the January transfer window, many fans have been following him around. Philippe Clement is eager to take Cyriel Dessers’ place in the starting lineup. “If Rangers sign Lawrence Shankland then, he’ll not only fire them to the league title, but he’ll pay for himself ten times over with a championship,” Jackson wrote in a Daily Record article on Wednesday, July 24.

Lawrence Shankland to provide Rangers with Champions League success
The Hearts striker has been one of the most impressive players in the Scottish Premiership over the past few seasons, having racked up 59 goals and 12 assists in 94 appearances since July 2022.

Clement’s side, on the other hand, have struggled for an out-and-out striker figure since Alfredo Morelos’ departure, and even he could not be totally relied upon due to his hot-headedness on the pitch.

Despite scoring 22 goals in all competitions during his first season in Scotland, Dessers has continuously been slammed for his lack of clinical nature in front of goal and has been linked with an exit already.

Cagliari are one of the teams interested in signing the 29-year-old on loan, according to Football Italia [9 July], but the player’s recent comments would suggest he is staying put at Ibrox this summer.

There might not be room for Shankland any longer with Danilo likely to make a comeback from a long-standing injury, Sam Lammers declining a move away from Ibrox [Scottish Sun, July 21], and Hamza Igamane joining the team.
If the Hearts player moved to Ibrox, he would probably be the best striker for the Gers, and the team would need plenty of depth with Champions League qualification matches coming up. But Clement seemed to have already improved in the last area of the field. Perhaps they should hold off until the next season and sign the player after his contract expires on a free transfer.
