However, as he told Clyde 1, Gordon Dalziel made it plain that Clement and company needed to “keep Tavernier” and that his departure would be “a loss.” The former player for the Gers also backed the set-piece expert in response to a fan’s assertions that he has been with the team for “too long” and that he is “the Harry Kane of Rangers.”
“The Harry Kane of Rangers,” as James Tavernier was nicknamed “I would really be looking to try and keep Tavernier if I was involved in Rangers,” Dalziel declared. “His stats do not go down. He has a significant role. He contributes greatly to set plays and never skips a game.
I believe Tavernier will be missed. He will be missed, in my opinion, although I am aware that some Rangers supporters disagree.
A Rangers supporter then informed Dalziel that Tavernier was the “Harry Kane of Rangers” and that he had “been at the club for too long.” “Wants to take the throw-ins, the penalties, the free-kicks, defend, he wants to charge forward and is stifling the players that are playing,” the supporter continued about Tavernier.
In response, Dalziel said, “As a center-forward, you have a better chance of scoring as well if Tavernier is going down the right-hand side and putting some quality balls in.”
As I have stated, there would be disagreements with Tavernier. However, I feel that he contributes so much to Rangers with everything he creates. Indeed, you are correct that he enjoys becoming engaged in everything, but I believe Tavernier still has a lot to give.
Rangers will lose another campaign without winning the title if they don’t get their act together, add players to the starting lineup, and cut loose with the underclass players. Celtic will easily win the title. Even though Rodgers’ return to Celtic caused several hiccups, the team nevertheless won the championship.
Furthermore, the team still has Matt O’Riley, the finest player in Scotland. Dalziel has accepted Celtic’s most recent request for O’Riley’s move. The Bhoys have a better chance of winning the tile and maybe winning it easily if the playmaker continues to play.
