Connor Goldson Rangers transfer hype escalates as sleuths unearth clues he’s ‘on his way’ to Aris Limassol
Rangers supporters believe Connor Goldson is on his way to Aris Limassol because of spreading rumors on social media that he has left for Cyprus already. In an attempt to lower the average age and create a new team for the long run, Philippe Clement is open to almost any method of making room for fresh talent this summer. He has already made changes to Borna Barisic, John Lundstram, and Ryan Jack, to mention three. It appears more like that captain James Tavernier will travel to Turkey to join the latter two.
On Monday morning, however, fans were talking about vice captain Goldson. Before a knee injury terminated his season early, Clement unseats Goldson from his starting spot in April. Clement was once among the first names on the teamsheet, dating back to the days of Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale. And that gave rise to early rumors that he might quit this summer in order to free up a sizable salary and offer Clement more leeway.
Social media is awash with chat that the 31-year-old is on his way to Aris Limassol, who infamously downed Rangers 2-1 in Cyprus in the Champions League last season. There have been claims he boarded a private jet from Prestwick on Sunday night, with one image seeming to show him on the phone as he walks through the airport corridor.

It’s also implied that they would be prepared to spend in order to pull off what would be a huge coup, even though there are concerns about whether they could afford to sign one of earners, who would also demand a fee. Throughout his six years with the Rangers, Goldson has made 309 appearances and has been one of their most reliable players. However, given the apparent shift in the market, it would be prudent for the Ibrox team to sell now because there won’t be much of an opportunity to profit should he reach the last year of his contract the following season.
Punters have long been clamouring to see fresh talent like Leon King get a prolonged run in the team and Goldson’s exit could be one way to facilitate that – particularly if Aris are ready to stump up the cash.
