Rangers are anticipating new interest as Alex Rae teases a surprising James Tavernier outcome.
James Tavernier, the captain of the Rangers, may soon be leaving Ibrox. Trabzonspor in Turkey has expressed formal interest in Gers captain Tav as the Super Lig team prepares for a third Rangers raid this summer. However, Tavernier might have to decide between working under a former Ibrox manager in Istanbul, Turkey, or forming a partnership with former teammates Borna Barisic and John Lundstram at Trabzonspor. This is due to Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s desire to accompany Tavernier to Besiktas for the upcoming summer. There seems to be no shortage of suitors for James Tavernier in the coming weeks, with interest being shown in Saudi Arabia, France, and Greece.
However, it hasn’t stopped a significant Ibrox employee from asserting that he hopes the Rangers captain doesn’t play any more before the new season begins. Rangers made the first offer to the Turkish team, and they were prepared for another one from Trabzonspor.
Saluting “integral,” Rae Tavernier Rangers coach Alex Rae spoke with the media after the team’s ultimately sad 2-0 loss to Manchester United in a friendly match. With a prior commitment, Ibrox manager Philippe Clement walked out at full time, leaving the former Gers midfielder to face the music. While the main topic of conversation was the preseason friendly against the Premier League’s biggest teams, reporters couldn’t help but question Rae about her relationship with James Tavernier. The Ibrox employee also made some insightful remarks, albeit acknowledging that the specifics of Trabzonspor’s mooted Tavernier deal are “above his pay grade.”
Claiming that Tavernier remains an ‘integral’ part of the club’s plans, Rae hopes the long-serving Rangers’ captain sticks around for a little while longer just yet.
“There’s (been) speculation throughout the course of Tavernier’s time here,” Rae told Sky Sports.
“He’s been linked many times, lots of rumours, we just deal with it as it happens. Nothing to report as such.
“Hopefully, Tav will continue to play a vital role in everything we do here.” Rae responded, “Listen, I have no idea, I don’t even know what the bid is, that’s kind of above my pay grade,” when pressed about the bid. “At this club, he’s been essential to me; he’s played a major role in recent years, and I believe he scored about 20 goals last year as well. “We’ll watch to see what transpires with each of them. I’m not too interested in the ins and outs.
“He’s still very much a part of the squad,” Rae continued. Is the Rangers captain’s term still open? Alex Rae made some really insightful remarks that are worth noting in relation to James Tavernier’s current Rangers predicament. Despite being thirty-two years old, the Rangers captain is still regarded as one of the team’s most important players. However, money talks, and we believe James Tavernier will have to make a huge choice if Trabzonspor can match the Rangers’ asking price.
A prominent Turkish newspaper claims that the Rangers captain has already discussed terms for a possible three-year deal with the Super Lig team. Rangers have also made it apparent that they require financial support to get the transfer window going. Despite the fact that everything appears to be leading to James Tavernier’s departure, Rae’s remarks suggest that there is still a good chance Tavernier will be a Rangers player in September.
