As Nottingham Forest continues to intensify its preparations for the upcoming season in Spain, they have received a significant boost.
So far, Forest has only participated in one friendly match in the warm weather; on Friday, Nuno Espirito Santo managed a 1-1 draw against Sunderland.
During that match, Omar Richards scored, and he is one of the fringe players who will have an opportunity to establish himself while traveling.
Tuesday night’s match between the Reds and Millwall is approaching, and some encouraging news has come out of the training camp.
At the Spanish training camp, Nottingham Forest receives a double boost. Whisper it discreetly, but Espirito Santo suddenly has the entire team at his disposal—this is unprecedented from the standpoint of the Forest.
All of the players that the head coach has access to right now are preparing for the upcoming season in the training camp in Spain.
This comes after Matz Sels returned from his prolonged leave following Euro 2024 and Taiwo Awoniyi reunited with his teammates today.
The two players were crucial components that Forest was lacking, so it’s good that Espirito Santo can now devote his whole attention to strengthening his team.
Awoniyi was on leave because of a personal issue that necessitated his return to England, but it seems to be addressed today.
In order to help the Forest team have a successful season, the striker will be driven to start this season and stay healthy.
In his pursuit of the top slot, Sels is aware that he must work rapidly to keep Carlos Miguel at bay.
The Forest squad is gelling well together. Forest has added a few quality players thus far, and perhaps a few more can complete the roster for the upcoming campaign.
That proved to be a little bit too late, as the Reds had too much business to attend to towards the close of the transfer window the previous season.
Although the results were a little inconsistent early in the season, perhaps this summer’s more coordinated strategy can help Forest get out to a faster start.
Awoniyi’s addition to the squad is very beneficial to Forest because it alters how the Reds approach opponents.
For his part, Sels won’t feel like he did anything wrong if he loses the gloves because he was mainly excellent in the previous campaign.
On the plus side, Miguel’s arrival at the team presents Espirito Santo with yet another dilemma before the upcoming season.
Having the entire team available is a positive thing, and the two can hopefully log some minutes in the upcoming matches against Millwall and Elche.
