Imagine him and Madison: Spurs are set to bid £19 million to sign a “sensational” player.

James Maddison’s skill was a major factor in Tottenham Hotspur’s early success during the start of the previous season, and he won August’s Player of the Month award as a result.

Sadly, he was unable to maintain that level of performance due to his ailments, and manager Ange Postecoglou occasionally missed his inventiveness during the year.

The former Leicester City player scored four goals and provided nine assists in his first season in north London, but Spurs finished fifth and were unable to qualify for the Champions League.

With the third-most assists during the previous season, Maddison has solidified his place on Postecoglou’s team. The 27-year-old is looking for an injury-free season in 2024–2025.

He could benefit even more by the arrival of one gifted young player, as Spurs are about to recruit another English prospect who had a fantastic Premier League performance the previous year.

Tottenham is about to submit a bid for a Premier League player. The Argentine website TyC Sports claims that Spurs and Aston Villa are negotiating about a possible summer transfer for forward Jacob Ramsey.

The 23-year-old’s injury-plagued season limited him to just 16 games, during which he contributed one assist and one goal for Unai Emery’s team. According to the report, midfielder Giovani Lo Celso is also part of Postecoglou’s team’s planned £19 million proposal, which would see him transfer to Villa Park.

The Argentine might yet move to Villa this time, sealing a reunion with Emery following their time together at Villarreal. Rumors of a move to the West Midlands surfaced last summer.

Ramsey would be a fantastic addition to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and he and Maddison might have a great relationship despite Ramsey’s current injury problems. Why Maddison and Ramsey might make a wonderful team The current Tottenham midfielder has thrived when in control, earning a reputation for both his superb ball-striking ability and his eye for an assist, as evidenced by his nine Premier League assists last season.

Despite his meager goal and assist totals from 2023–2024, Ramsey is a tremendous talent who, when paired with Maddison’s skills, might flourish in north London.

Journalist Seb Stafford-Bloor called the young Villa player “sensational.” He averaged two shots and 3.1 shot-creating actions per 90 in 2023–24, demonstrating his ability to create opportunities for both himself and his teammates.

With an average of three progressive passes per 90 and 3.5 progressive carries, he likes to rush forward with the ball whenever he has the chance. This could provide Maddison more possibilities to add to his already excellent total of goals and assists.

The 2022–2023 season was Ramsey’s best in a Villa shirt, as the young player contributed with six goals and eight assists, demonstrating his ability when he was not sidelined by injuries.

Postecoglou has already demonstrated he is capable of taking young prospects to the next level, with Brennan Johnson and Micky van de Ven thriving under his guidance last season.

He has the opportunity to replicate his successes with Ramsey this summer, with the rumoured £19m deal plus Lo Celso going in the opposite direction a great deal for all parties.

It would allow Ramsey to reach the next level in his already promising career, with Lo Celso able to reignite his professional career under a manager that he’s previously enjoyed a successful stint under.
