Why james Tavernier’s future and the Rangers’ transfer ambitions were questioned by Alex Rae.

Despite transfer leave rumors, Alex Rae believes James Tavernier stays a “integral” part of Rangers.

The Light Blues skipper has been the target of transfer rumors lately, most notably from Trabzonspor, and it’s said the Turkish team’s original bid was turned down. Nonetheless, given that the Gers are requesting £850,000 more than was first offered, they should continue to attempt.

The right-back’s future appears destined to stay uncertain for the foreseeable future, as teams in England and Steven Gerrard’s Al-Ettifaq have shown substantial interest in him. Opinions among supporters regarding his value to the team and when it’s time for him to go on are divided.

The assistant coach said, “I have no idea.” I don’t even know how much the bid is. To accomplish it, I’m not paid.

Speculation has been voiced on Tavernier’s tenure here. He is often associated to many things, and a lot of rumors have been generated about him. We just deal with things as they come up. There is nothing to report as a result.

He is, after all, a fundamental component of our work here, and we hope that remains the case. I think it is essential that he be at this club.

He has played a significant role in recent years; last year, I believe he scored twenty or so goals. We’ll have to wait and see what transpires with each of them.

Rangers continue to look to add more players in the transfer market but may have to wheel and deal and get some out before any more come in the door.

Quizzed on what areas they might be prioritising ahead of the league opener against Hearts, Rae said: “I think there’s a couple of areas where we’d like to bring players in, but as the manager has said, I think we have to get some players going out first and foremost.

And again, that’ll reflect on who goes out the door. Until we get that, we’ll have to prioritise when who actually leaves.”
