Stevie Clifford states that Nicolas Raskin is not expected to play for Rangers against Manchester United in their preseason match.
The Belgian midfielder is unlikely to play after suffering an injury in the match against Ajax when Philippe Clement’s team plays the Red Devils at Murrayfield on Saturday, July 20.
After being the victim of a reckless tackle in the first half, Raskin was seen walking off the field in a protective boot, and Four Lads host Clifford believes it is doubtful he will be well enough to play at Murrayfield.
He stated, “I’m waiting on something on that Derek so I won’t say too much about it, but I don’t think you’ll see him at the weekend,” in a video posted on The Rangers Review YouTube channel on July 18, at 13:41. “We simply have to wait and see until that is clarified.”
How severe is the injury to Rangers standout Nico Raskin before their matchup with Manchester United? The Rangers have experienced a significant number of injuries in the past few seasons, and the early indications from the preseason point to this being the case under Clement this season.
It was unfortunate that Raskin was the victim of a very harsh tackle, but there wasn’t much he could do about it. The Belgian plays an all-action style of football, so he always has a chance of getting knocked out.
Since he appears to be an important component of Clement’s plans, hopefully he won’t miss anything more than the Manchester United match, giving him plenty of time to prepare for the upcoming campaign during pre-season.
Having hardly touched the ball under the Belgian, fans and pundits alike were expecting the midfielder to be moved not too long ago, but the early preseason indications suggest he might still have something to offer.
His supporters will only be praying that his injury isn’t as serious as first thought.
