Viljami Sinisalo, who joined Celtic yesterday from Aston Villa, is the team’s first acquisition of the summer window.
The Finland international landed yesterday for an estimated £1 million, traveling with Brendan Rodgers’ team in advance of the Bhoys’ preseason trip to the United States.
Sinisalo will finish second behind Kasper Schmeichel, putting an end to rumors over the goalie spot. After his check-up yesterday, the 37-year-old is anticipated to make an announcement shortly.
Sinisalo played for Exeter City in Sky Bet League One during the previous season, making 45 appearances and recording 13 clean sheets.
In response to the move, he has now posted on Instagram and received well wishes from previous teammates before his Parkhead experience.
Viljami Sinisalo uses Instagram following the Celtics trade. After finishing his relocation to Glasgow’s east end, Sinisalo shared a picture of himself wearing the number 12 shirt on social media.
The Finnish goalkeeper accompanied the snap with a caption that read: “Great to be here! Thank you for such a warm welcome. Can’t wait to get going, see you all very soon! @celticfc.”
In the replies, there was a Celtic connection already present, with former striker Jack Aitchison congratulating him on the move by exclaiming ‘Viljamiiiiii’ to his ex-Exeter teammate.
Chelsea summer signing Omari Kellyman also commented, ‘Congrats bro’ below; meanwhile, other professionals in the game and Hoops supporters also expressed their well wishes.
Clearly, Sinisalo is excited about moving to Celtic and will be set on establishing himself as the future number one at the club.
Learning under Schmeichel will be the perfect grounding to achieve this aspiration, and hopefully, fans can see him in action while the Bhoys are in the United States.
