A pair of Celtics players have received a direct message from Brendan Rodgers: more is needed if they are to be a part of his ambitions.
Fans were thrilled with Odin Thiago Holm and Bosun Lawal’s preseason displays against Queen’s Park and Ayr United.
Following his stint at Fleetwood Town last season, Birmingham City is reportedly interested in the latter star. Holm played little in his first Premiership season at Celtic.
Coach Rodgers feels that more is required if either player is to be a regular at a team the size of Celtic, despite their strong performances. “They must be at a far higher level,” he stated.
It is a must if you want to play for Celtic. Odin still has work to do. There’s definitely something there, though.
His talent is similar to that of Bosun Lawal, which is why we want to give them the chance so I can watch them during the preseason.
That is why we persist and stick with it. Just running more, though. You need to get away. You must sprint, be observant, and position yourself well in order to press the game, get the ball, and take it away without the ball.
“The other night when he enters the game, you see Francis Turley. I’ve only known this kid for a few days, but if he can develop and get in shape, he’ll be a legitimate player.
The child has good movement. “Observe his movements, how he receives the ball, how he sprints, how intelligent he is, how he enters the box, and how he finishes.
All he needs is more strength and energy, but that’s what it takes to play football—movement, taking the ball, and cunning. Thus, I believe that the two lads you mentioned, Lawal and Holm, have talent.
However, I’m craving more. Much more. Ability is not sufficient. Teams are for you to play on, but not our team.
