Why the offense of the Dallas Cowboys might be a one-trick pony in 2024.

The Dallas Cowboys offensive has been among the best in football for the past three seasons, whether we like it or not. However, in 2024, that might all change. Things might become interesting in September because the offensive line is losing Tyler Biadasz and Tyron Smith, as well as Tony Pollard and Michael Gallup, and there is no indication of CeeDee Lamb.

Yes, the offensive will still be productive as long as a deal with Lamb is reached, but in 2024, who will intimidate the defenses of the opposition?

This season, KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Tolbert, and Jalen Brooks will be crucial players. This season, they must include Turpin in the offense more. At this point, move him about, let him run with the football, do anything. When he is on the field, he creates plays. Tolbert ought to have little trouble moving up to the number three spot behind Lamb and Brandin Cooks, but can he provide them with a better offering than Gallup did a year ago?

Gallup had two touchdowns and 418 yards on 34 catches in 2023. Until he does, teams won’t center their strategy around Tolbert. We can only hope he can surpass the 500-yard mark and become a threat the defense has to deal with. Tolbert and Turpin, in my opinion, have a great opportunity to establish significant roles in the offense; all they need to do is consistently demonstrate that they can.

Jerguson Jake and Cooks Brandin I didn’t think much of Jake Ferguson after his rookie season, but in 2023, he racked up 71 receptions for 761 yards and five touchdowns, making him this team’s second option behind Lamb. But let’s consider this: has Ferg gone far enough to cause other teams to worry about him in the same way that others have?

In addition, he recorded three touchdowns, 93 yards, and 10 receptions in the playoff defeat against the Green Bay Packers.

He doesn’t have to be Travis Kelce—nobody will be—but if he can reach the level of, say, George Kittle, we can talk. Regarding what kind of year Brandin Cooks will have, I’m not sure. While some part of me believes he’ll go back to his 1,000-yard ways, I believe 600–800 yards is a more reasonable estimate.

Running Backs Though they both have admirable traits, Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott would be best used as the number two backs. Let’s face it, they will have their days and nights. The worst backfield in all of football is this team’s. Nobody is scared of them! Even if Tony Pollard’s season-ending play did not live up to my expectations, teams still needed to be sure to keep a watch on him. One broken tackle or one wheel route out of the backfield may change the course of the game for him.

One Trick Pony

Let’s be honest Lamb is that dude, but if this team does not pay him his money, he may not even be here and then they are in real trouble.

Lamb should have nearly the same numbers in 2024 as he did last season, and that is why although they won’t win 12 games again, they should make the playoffs.

This offense will be a one-trick pony, though. They have nobody at this moment in my eyes that makes the defensive coordinator create matchups based on them.

Until given a reason not to, it will be to cover CeeDee Lamb and force everyone else on the Cowboys offense to beat you, and it will probably work most of the time.
