Who are the NFL’S best quarterback?Execs, coaches, scouts rank NFL’s top 10 QBs for 2024

With 2024 NFL training camps approaching, it’s time for the league’s actual insiders to speak up. ESPN polled league executives, coaches, and scouts to determine the top ten players at 11 various positions, including quarterback, cornerback, and everything in between. This is the sixth edition of these rankings, and as usual, some players have moved up or down from last year’s lists. A refresher of the rankings process: voters nominate their top ten players at a position, and we collect the results to rank prospects based on the amount of top-10 votes, composite average, and dozens of interviews, with research and video study assistance from ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen.

In total, over 80 voters cast ballots for at least one seat, and in many cases all positions. Additional voting and follow-up contacts with survey respondents help us break any ties. Each section contains remarks and tidbits from voters about every ranking player, including honorable mentions. The goal is to select the top players available now for 2024. This is neither a five-year prediction nor a career accomplishment award. Who are today’s best players? We will roll out one position per day for 11 days. The schedule includes running backs (7/8), defensive tackles (7/9), edge rushers (7/10), safeties (7/11), tight ends (7/12), interior offensive linemen (7/13), offensive tackles (7/14), quarterbacks (7/15), off-ball linebackers (7/16), wide receivers (7/17), and cornerbacks (7/18).

Aside from the pesky Chiefs, the NFL is ready for a new breed of championship quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, and Russell Wilson are four Super Bowl winners who will start games under center in 2024. That is half of the total from 2020, when players such as Tom Brady, Drew Brees, and Ben Roethlisberger were still establishing records. The skill pool indicates that new faces will emerge on the ultimate stage. Five of the top seven quarterbacks in this year’s Top 10 series are 27 years or younger.
