Rangers could earn more money at Hampden Park after Ibrox developments

Dan Plumley has stated that Rangers might earn more money at Hampden Park if they sell out, as the Ibrox situation continue to escalate. A agreement with the SFA is nearing conclusion for the national stadium, with Ibrox delays expected to last into August and possibly longer [Scottish Sun].

With Hampden’s capacity somewhat larger than Ibrox, the football financial expert admitted that they could sell it out and earn more money, although compensation may still be required to play there. “I’ve never seen anything that suggests otherwise,” he exclusively told Ibrox News. “Using Spurs as an example, their revenue at Wembley was quite significant since they were able to sell more tickets and fill the stadium to capacity.

“I believe, if I’ve got my numbers right, Hampden Park is around one thousand more than Ibrox, so it’s not huge in the context of the Spurs example as a comparison, but up to 1500 more tickets if you can sell a percentage of those, it’s an extra little bit.

“That’s good for the club in one respect, but the offset is you’ve probably got to pay a compensation fee to get in there anyway and also, it’s not your ground so there’s the fan inconvenience as well.”I guess there are pros and cons in that regard, but there is nothing that I’ve seen that would suggest you can’t sell the stadium out if it’s higher capacity.”Will Rangers make more at Hampden Park than at Ibrox? Depending on how much the team has to pay the SFA to use Hampden, John Bennett may still be able to profit from this situation. Bennett’s most recent statement on the subject indicates that he is still unsure how long this will endure, which is bad news for everyone.
