According to reports, one Wolves player appeared remarkably fit during this morning’s “brutal” jogging session in Marbella.
In an attempt to get his players ready for the 2024–2025 season, Gary O’Neil is currently putting them through their paces in the intense Spanish sun.
The players are undoubtedly working really hard because the current temperature is in the mid-thirties.
A total of 29 players left with the hope of impressing the manager and possibly earning a spot in the starting lineup for the upcoming campaign.
Journalists Nathan Judah and Liam Keen were rather impressed by Daniel Podence this morning, but he’s probably still not going to be in the Wolves team come next season.
Wolves’ Luke Cundle wins a “brutal” running session, but Daniel Podence appeared remarkably fit.
Few people truly anticipated that Podence would be a part of Wolves’ preseason. The forward, who spent 2023–24 on loan at Olympiacos, hinted in some remarks at the end of the previous campaign that he wasn’t all that eager to go back.
But he’s there with everyone, and earlier this week, Liam Keen and Nathan Judah, two E&S journalists, said that Podence was looking incredibly sharp and brilliant when he was on the ball.
His fitness has also impressed, in addition to his ball skills. This morning, the players were practicing again. Following roughly sixty minutes of 7-a-side matches, O’Neil assigned them to a running session.
The winner was Luke Cundle, who was on loan at Plymouth Argyle and later Stoke City last season. Podence also looked excellent. Daniel Podence is right up front, Keen stated (via E&S). essentially taking the lead from the start. Nearly from beginning to end.
Judah: “He seems really well-groomed. Keen: “Yes, he appears to be in excellent form. Straight ahead is Luke Cundle, followed closely by Sarabia. Up there were Hugo Bueno and Lima. Around there, too, was Ait-Nouri.
Ultimately, Curdle emerged victorious. With the victory already secured, Podence simply walked over the finish line in his final lap, showing little real concern for the victory. For the brutal session—I’ll tell you why coasting is the appropriate term.
Podence could be handy for Wolves
It sounds very much like Podence is in excellent form right now. He still looks like he’ll be departing this summer, though.
It will be interesting to observe how things turn out in his presence. If O’Neill had wanted to keep him, he would not have excluded him from the preseason along with Goncalo Guedes and Fabio Silva.
However, the £17 million signing Podence appeared to like his stay at Olympiacos, and the fact that he purportedly purchased a home there suggests that he may move there permanently. It’s unfortunate in a way.
Because Podence might be a fantastic alternative for Wolves in 2024–2025 and is a fantastic player on his day.
