Premier League-winning goalie to be signed by Celtic

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, who won the Premier League, is expected to sign a one-year contract with Celtic.

After leading Denmark to victory in the Euros, the former Leicester City goalkeeper is eager to work with Brendan Rodgers again and has agreed to a short-term contract with the Scottish Champions.

The 37-year-old left Anderlecht at the end of the season, making him a free agent. Although there had been talks to send him to Saudi Arabia, the youngster seems eager to compete in the Champions League with Celtic.

The player will sign a one-year contract with Celtic, with the possibility to extend it. On the surface, Celtic made a wise move by adding an accomplished No. 1 who is still producing at a high level.

In addition, he is someone who understands the manager’s game plan and can help him carry it out during his second tenure.

Schmeichel played 479 games for Leicester, helping them to two Top 5 finishes, the League, FA Cup, and Community Shield. Brendan was in charge of the final three accomplishments.

Celtic will be eager to close this deal and secure the confirmations of Adam Idah and Paulo Bernardo.

It is anticipated that a different goalkeeper—basically, someone who looks to replace Schmeichel—will be sought to replace departing Benjamin Siegrist.
