The reason Steve Kerr admires Devin Booker’s capacity to adapt for Team USA

Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns shown his exceptional capacity to transition into a new role during the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

In his debut season with Team USA in 2021, Booker—one of the league’s top scorers—served more as a team bond.

Throughout six games (five starts) at the Tokyo Olympics, Booker averaged 9.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals in 20.7 minutes per game.

Booker had the lowest point average among the five players who played the most minutes for Team USA, but he led the squad in steals.

Booker is once again among the best of the best that the league has to offer on the Team USA roster for the 2024 Olympics in Paris. “Everyone is trustworthy,” Booker remarked. You are aware of everyone’s accomplishments and abilities.

I’m willing to go above and beyond, knowing that you won’t necessarily score thirty points per game and that you might not even touch the ball during play.

However, just accepting that things will work out and realizing that you are speaking for the entire nation and something greater than yourself.

Steve Kerr, the head coach of Team USA and a 2021 assistant coach, recognized Booker’s potential when it came to International Basketball Federation (FIBA) play in Tokyo. “(Booker) is the ideal example of a player who will get 20 shots per night in an NBA game.

In ’21 in Tokyo, he was more of a ball-mover and defender, but he still did a great job and was one of our key players,” Kerr said. “He’s back here for that reason.

We were aware of his importance to us. And I’m really impressed with Book’s ability to see that, accept the shift in roles, and yet make the big play and anticipate a momentous occasion. Book is the ideal FIBA man.Booker intends to serve as a role model for other athletes who are considering changing roles. Booker stated, “(We have to) make sure we’re all on the same page.” Recognize that this isn’t the game we usually play. All we need to do is find alternative ways to get involved.

You may need to grab offensive rebounds, play stronger defense, and make the extra pass that you often don’t make because the ball won’t be in your hands the entire time.

Team USA’s first game will be an exhibition on Wednesday in Vegas against Canada. They play four more exhibition games before their first matchup of the Olympics on July 28 against Serbia.
