Surprising return of the former Wolves captain as transfer hopes grow

Danny Batth, a former captain of Wolverhampton Wanderers, has unexpectedly rejoined the team.

The 33-year-old, who left Norwich City as a free agent, has spent the past week working out at Compton with Wolves’ under-21 squad.

Batth is reportedly temporarily returning to Wanderers in order to increase his fitness in the hopes of landing a transfer elsewhere, according to our sister daily Express & Star.

Reuniting with Wolves is not happening, despite the fact that it would be an incredibly romantic decision and well-liked by the supporters.

The former player was a backup for Norwich during the previous season and has never played in the Premier League.

He has also played for Sunderland, Stoke City, Sheffield Wednesday, and Colchester United.

Although a move to Solihull Moors has been suggested, it is doubtful that the team will drop to the National League.

After making 212 appearances for Wolves from 2010 to 2018, Batth is free to search for a new team at his own pace.

The experienced defender is keeping up his sharpness by working out with the Old Gold’s young team, and offers will undoubtedly come in soon.

For as long it takes, this is also a chance to remember the good old days in Wolverhampton.

Batth, who grew up close to Brierley Hill, was a fixture in the second division for a number of years and participated in 16 games during the championship-winning 2017–18 season.

Supporters adored the defender, who posed a threat from set pieces.
