Joao Gomes’s thoughts on Wolves’ elimination alongside Manchester City among his five Premier League fans

Despite interest from Premier League rivals Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, and Manchester United in the Brazilian, neither Joao Gomes nor Wolves are in a hurry to pursue a transfer.

Wolverhampton Wanderers did permit captain Max Kilman to sign a £40 million contract to join West Ham United last week, but as of right now, the Molineux team has no intention of allowing another one of their best players to follow the defender out the door.

There isn’t any urgent pressure on the Wolves to trade for Joao Gomes.

The same is true for Pedro Neto, a winger valued at £60 million, and left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. There are many supporters of all three, particularly in the Premier League.

Five of the largest and wealthiest clubs in the division have expressed interest in Gomes this summer, as far as HITC is aware.

Despite Man City’s interest, Wolves will not sell Joao Gomes.

The Brazil international who beat Ange Postecoglou’s team in North London back in February with two goals is admired by Tottenham Hotspur.

HITC is informed that inquiries have also been made by Arsenal and Man City. In addition, Liverpool might believe that they need a younger Wataru Endo replacement in the engine room.

Although Manuel Ugarte, a benchwarmer for Paris Saint-Germain, seems to have emerged as the top choice to replace Casemiro, Manchester United is also looking to bolster its midfield.

Gomes, 23, only moved to Wolves from Flamengo in January 2023, paying £15 million for the privilege. He passed on Lyon, a French powerhouse, in favor of the Black Country.

With his ability to pass the ball well when in possession and his skill as a ball-winner and presser, the Rio-born ace has rapidly become one of the most complete center midfielders in English football. He has an eye for goal as well, as Tottenham discovered.

We were certain that he could press opponents and recover the ball in the manner that he did. Gary O’Neill, the manager, remarked after the 2-1 victory over Spurs, via Live Score, “And I thought he was excellent at that.”

I want to keep working to help him become a better ball player. His ball handling skills and cleanliness are areas we work closely with him on. He also occasionally makes clean passes.

In addition to what he accomplished today without the ball and of course scoring two outstanding goals, I want him to be flawless. It is really amazing that a 23-year-old could perform that well away from Tottenham.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have a tough summer ahead of them. Gomes is contracted through 2028.

While Wolves won’t accept offers unless they are just too good to refuse, HITC is aware that one of the most successful pound-for-pound signings in recent memory at Molineux is not in a haste to pursue another new start.

Before Wolves would even entertain the possibility of calling Man City and company, they would need to provide O’Neil’s team with a substantial return on their £15 million investment.

In contrast, Wolves has signed three new players so far this summer.

Rodrigo Gomes, a “exceptional” player sometimes compared to a young Neto, joins from Braga, and they defeated Chelsea to win the competition for Pedro Lima, the teenage right-back for Sport Recife.

While Jorgen Strand Larsen, the target man, signed a first-year loan deal from Celta Vigo, he will head the O’Neil line in 2023–2024.

As a possible £25 million Kilman replacement, HITC understands that Wolves may now try to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s Strahinja Pavlovic.
