Kevin Love of the Miami Heat Expresses His Genuine Emotions About the New Contract

The five-time All-Star’s NBA career with the Miami Heat was in danger as he prepared to explore free agency.

Nevertheless, the six-foot-8 big man signed a two-year agreement worth over $8 million after the two parties collaborated toward a single objective.

Although Love’s current contract is significantly less than the enormous salaries he received earlier in his career, there’s little doubting that the 35-year-old still values it greatly.

News from Miami Heat: Kevin Love Discusses the New Deal Love claims that he was aware from the beginning that he would eventually close a contract with the Heat:

According to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald, Love stated in a Sunday afternoon Zoom call with reporters, “At the end of the day, it didn’t feel like there was any doubt.”

Love still has some gas left in the tank, even though he is no longer the well-known superstar that he once was. This idea is supported by the Heat’s decision to sign him to a two-year extension.

Love also made hints about having looked into other free agency options. But he secretly understood that Miami was his home and that South Beach will always be his home:

“There’s always an opportunity to look around the league and see opportunity in every free agency,” Love went on.

However, I feel that during the past year and a half, the Heat has truly felt like home because of the way the team runs, the personalities of Erik Spoelstra, Pat Riley, Andy Elisburg, and general manager Erik Spoelstra.

We seemed to be constantly optimistic that we would succeed in finishing this, gaining an additional year, and being able to support the squad to the best of our abilities. It makes me extremely thrilled to be back.

During his rookie campaign, Love averaged 8.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 16.8 minutes off the bench for the Heat.
