How Manchester United’s £34m Joshua Zirkzee move could finally settle Rangers reports

It’s no secret that the Rangers are looking for more firepower this summer. The Ibrox club will need all of the sharpshooters they can get if they are to reclaim domestic dominance from Old Firm rivals Celtic.

After losing Kemar Roofe at the end of his contract, Hamza Igamane has joined the Rangers from FAR Rabat. However, with Fabio Silva returning to Wolves and the future of Brighton loanee Abdallah Sima uncertain, the Gers are clearly lacking in the final third. With speculations that Cyriel Dessers may be leaving Ibrox, a perfect storm is building.

Now, the Premier League plates are shifting under one high-profile alleged striker transfer target, which may mean that Rangers’ links are resolved one way or another.

Rangers-linked Rrahmani a wanted man
OK so we’ve never really been able to ascertain if Rangers are serious suitors for Albion Rrahmani.

The Kosovan attacker broke into the forefront last season, scoring 19 goals for Romanian club Rapid Bucharest, and the links initially surfaced this summer. Rangers have been heavily connected throughout Eastern Europe, but Rapid’s steep Rrahmani asking price of €8 million (£6.7 million) is reported to be a sticking point. With clubs from all around Europe identified as potential suitors, it’s uncertain whether anyone is willing to pay such a high price. However, one Italian club linked last week may soon be able to match Romania’s expectations.

Champions League outfit Bologna are reportedly interested in Albion Rrahmani replacing seemingly Manchester United-bound Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Now, the latest developments surrounding the Euro 2024 striker’s next move may well start the ball rolling and silence all that Rangers chatter once and for all.

According to the likes of Sky Sports, Erik Ten Hag’s team have reached a £34m agreement with Bologna to bring Joshua Zirkzee to Old Trafford.

Ibrox striker transfer hunt continues
I guess that means we’ll find out soon enough whether or not Albion Rrahmani is a genuine target for Bologna.

Zirkzee was a vital player for Thiago Motta’s Bologna club last season, and Rrahmani appears to be a strong replacement. With Benfica, Napoli, and even Aston Villa connected to Rrahmani earlier this summer, as well as Prague clubs Sparta and Slavia, the 23-year-old is said to be in high demand. Rangers, meanwhile, are rebuilding their squad around Belgian duo Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen. The club’s frontline is set to be strengthened by investment this summer, with all eyes on who joins Ibrox.
