Rangers outsider reveals hunch about where fans will be housed as as Ibrox board fired urgent call to action

Rangers have been warned to be upfront with fans about their stadium relocation intentions and make a decision NOW, despite venue uncertainty – just a month before the Scottish Premiership season begins. According to Record Sport, Hampden Park has emerged as the new frontrunner, with high-level talks underway between Ibrox officials and their SFA counterparts. The National Stadium was previously supposed to be unavailable due to pop musician Pink’s two performances there last month, making Murrayfield, where Rangers will play Manchester United in a friendly later this month, the most plausible choice.

However, Hampden bosses are keen to help the Light Blues out of a crisis after a delay in construction work to the Copland Road stand means their stadium will be out of commission for at least the first month of the season.

Anxious fans are desperately awaiting news of which side of the M8 their games will take place. The story has attracted attention south of the border with former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson even having his say – and urged Rangers to give supporters some clarity, admitting the prospect of moving to a smaller capacity stadium can’t be an option.

He told Football Insider: “Rangers must make a decision now. They can’t claim they’ll be somewhere for two weeks and then move somewhere else for two weeks if Ibrox isn’t ready in time; they must tell supporters when the ground will be ready and have a place to stay until then. They are scheduled to meet Manchester United on July 20 at Murrayfield. So that provides you some idea of where they’ll be. They, like Celtic, have the capacity to fill Murrayfield multiple times. But going to another smaller ground is simply not an option for them.”
