Celtic can find Hart replacement with Euro 2024 star as Rangers new boy makes future vow
Celtic have been encouraged to ‘go big’ and make a’statement signing’ by signing one of Euro 2024’s top players. One major task for Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers during the summer transfer window will be to find a replacement for Joe Hart, who has announced his retirement after helping Celtic win their third consecutive Premiership title as part of a league and cup double.
Several goalkeepers have been linked with a transfer to Celtic Park, including Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka and Trabzonspor’s Ugurcan Cakir, but former Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Paul Robinson feels the Hoops should make an audacious move for Valencia’s Giorgi Mamardashvili. The Georgia international has been in magnificent form during Euro 2024, helping his side reach the knockout rounds for the first time in a major tournament. Newcastle have been linked with a £30 million bid for Mamardashvili, but Robinson believes Celtic should make an unlikely approach for the 23-year-old and secure a long-term replacement for Hart.
He answered, “It doesn’t reach me. Not at all. It does not get to me. When you are a club the size of Rangers, that cannot enter your mind. If it does, there’s an issue. Obviously, that’s a long time away from now, and I take each game as it comes. Every football game I play is enjoyable, so this one will be no exception. As a player, you must sometimes take care of yourself and do what is best for your profession at the appropriate time. I thank Aberdeen for bringing me up from a boy to the player I am today. I thank them for all they’ve done to help.
