A Dallas Cowboys teammate chastises Micah Parsons for prioritizing his podcast over football.

One of the top players in the NFL is Micah Parsons of the Dallas Cowboys, a pass rusher. Depending on the week you catch him, he is undoubtedly among the top three defensive players, if not the greatest.

Parsons, who was chosen 12th overall in the 2021 NFL Draft and won Defensive Rookie of the Year, has been a sensation since he made his rookie appearance with the Cowboys.

In two of the three seasons, he was named to the first team of the All-Pro team, while in the third, he was named to the second team. With at least 13 sacks in each of his three professional seasons, he is essentially as reliable as they come.

Parsons promotes his podcast, The Edge with Micah Parsons, which he has released 23 episodes of in the previous nine months alone, when he isn’t intimidating opponents with his pass-rush maneuvers.

According to Malik Hooker, Micah Parsons’ podcast is harming the Dallas Cowboys.

However, safety Malik Hooker, a teammate, thinks Micah Parsons should give up the podcast act and give his all to helping the Cowboys win their first Super Bowl since 1995. Strangely enough, Hooker chose to criticize Parsons publicly—ironically, on a different podcast—rather than in private.

“Just make sure we’re all right would be my advice to Micah,” Hooker stated on Keyshawn Johnson’s podcast. “Because if the run game is bad while we’re at work and you know it, but you still put out a weekly podcast, then what are you really concerned about?” Do you care more about the number of listeners the podcast received or do you care more about our team’s performance and our goal of winning the Super Bowl?

Those are some very pointed remarks from Hooker, and to no surprise, Parsons didn’t take kindly to them. Here was his response on social media.

Just wish you said this to me but instead on some podcast! And you got my number family! @MalikHooker24 and you my locker mate! So you coulda said this any day! And you do realize I shoot the podcast on our off day! I why ain’t we talking about everyone preparations and focus.”Micah Parsons replying to Malik Hooker

It’s understandable that this would seem trivial. It seems unlikely that Hooker will be with the Cowboys for very long.

It is inappropriate to publicly criticize the team’s star player, particularly when he has easy access to his locker mate.

Although Hooker has a contract through the 2026 season, we’re assuming he doesn’t rejoin the Cowboys in 2025. Perhaps, though, we are exaggerating this.
