The price of Callum Wilson has been revealed as West Ham United prepare to make a new signing.

West Ham are interested in signing Newcastle striker Callum Wilson, who is valued at more than £10 million, according to the Daily Mirror.

The newspaper reported in its print version on June 25 (page 54) that Wilson is being chased not only by the Hammers but also by two Saudi clubs, notably Al-Ahli.

Despite the competition, West Ham are interested on signing the 32-year-old, who scored nine goals in 20 Premier League outings last season.

West Ham United to complete Callum Wilson deal West Ham United’s interest in Wilson raises a crucial question: is he a suitable fit for the club?

Despite his age, the striker can sprint with the ball and move his team up the field, which could help the Hammers under Julien Lopetegui.

Wilson’s 2023-24 season stats are equally remarkable, with the 32-year-old scoring nine goals in 20 Premier League games. According to statistics, he scored once every 2.2 matches.

If Wilson can maintain this form at West Ham, the Hammers’ attack might improve, adding depth as they strive for a spot in the top half of the table.

On top of that, Wilson has plenty of Premier League experience with his strengths lying in finishing, long shots, and headers.

On the other hand, Lopetegui favours a possession-based style of football, which could present challenges.

Wilson’s deficiencies in ball retention and passing may not work well with Lopetegui’s tactics.

Furthermore, his little defensive contribution may be an issue in a system that requires strikers to push and trackback.
