Spurs’very close’ to signing Santiago Giménez

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly’very close’ to signing Feyenoord striker Santiago Giménez this summer, according to writer Juan Carlos Cruz.

The Lilywhites are apparently looking to bolster their squad this summer in order to improve on their Premier League result of fifth place next season.

Ange Postecoglou is thought to be aiming to strengthen numerous areas of the squad, including the centre-back and engine room, but he is also interested in signing a new striker.

A few names have been connected with a move to the freshly restored White Hart Lane in recent weeks, with Giménez appearing to be their first choice.

According to Juan Carlos Cruz (via TUDNRadio), Tottenham has already begun negotiations to sign the Mexican, despite the fact that he is presently playing for Mexico in the Copa America.

Giménez moves to Tottenham. According to the journalist, Tottenham has already made an offer to sign the 23-year-old, while Atletico Madrid has also presented a proposal.

However, Cruz claims that Spurs’ price is larger than Los Rojiblancos’, and it will be tough for the Spanish club to match the North London club’s valuation, implying that Tottenham are’very close’ to completing the transaction.

It has already been rumored that Feyenoord wants roughly £85 million to sell their best player, so it remains to be seen how much the North London club would spend to acquire his signature.

The Mexican had a tremendous season last year, scoring 26 goals and assisting eight times in 41 appearances across all competitions. So the North Londoners will be hoping that if he does join the club this summer, he can emulate his Premier League performance.

The 23-year-old, who stands 6 feet tall, is a great finisher and works hard even when not in possession. He is a highly gifted player who, if signed, could be an excellent addition to Tottenham’s front line.

However, it would be intriguing to watch if Postecoglou’s team is able to gain his signature during this transfer window.
