Borna Barisic in emotional Rangers address as Croatian international bows out of Ibrox.
Rangers will see significant changes this summer. Numerous of them have already happened. Belgian manager Philippe Clement has made it apparent that the team’s entire structure needs to change, with the playing roster and backroom personnel long overdue for a change.
Rangers are still searching for a new CEO at the top of the organization following James Bisgrove’s unexpected move to Saudi Arabia. After all is said and done, it appears that the former UEFA striker was lucky to escape. Many of the Rangers players from the Gerrard era have since moved on as part of the radical transformation. After six inconsistent seasons in Glasgow, one of them—signed following a fortuitous encounter during the 2018 Euros—just said an emotional goodbye to Rangers supporters.
Whilst the Ibrox side have long-held an affinity with Croatian footballers, the left-back initially struggled to make any impact following a £1.5m move from NK Osijek in 2018.
Signed after Rangers played the Croats in Europa League qualification – Barisic then his local club’s captain – Borna’s first year was fraught with injury and mentality problems.
But after bouncing back in season two, at one stage the lethal left-back was as good as anyone has ever been at Ibrox in delivering deadly crosses from his side of the park.
Fast forward a few years and Borna leaves Rangers at the end of his contract for Super Lig club Trabzonspor, the 31-year-old’s next move the worst kept secret in Türkiye. The announcement on social media says: “It’s never easy to say goodbye, especially when it’s something you and your family really care about, like Rangers FC.” “I would want to express my gratitude to all of the club members and staff for everything you have done for my family and me over the past six years.
“I want to thank all of my teammates, the coaching staff, and the club personnel for everything. “I created lifelong friendships and memories. “In closing, I simply wanted to express my gratitude to all of the fans since our relationship has always been and always will be amazing. “I will support Rangers FC and constantly follow you. My friends, I love you with all of my heart and I will never give up. WATP.

The emotional address proves Borna Barisic is leaving Rangers with a very heavy heart.
Over six years there have been some extraordinary highs and some devastating lows and whilst Barisic has experienced ups and downs in form personally, there can be no doubting the left-back’s commitment.
At his best, the once Tottenham Hotspur and AS Roma linked Croatia international was an exemplary crosser and relentless engine on the left-hand side.
Playing a key role as Rangers romped to 55 unbeaten back in 2020/21, the defender has seen it all as the club regained the Scottish Cup, League Cup and reached the Europa League Final.
Across six seasons Borna Barisic made 236 appearances for Rangers, scoring 10 goals and laying on 54 assists.Rangers supporters will undoubtedly shed a tear or two when Barisic leaves Glasgow behind. This is the final time that the man who comes and goes will be seen. Although he was perhaps retained for one or two too long, supporters will always appreciate the left-back’s dedication to the team. Barisic receives nothing but our best efforts since everyone takes a different course. Next season, it will be unusual to not have the left-back in the Ibrox squad.
