Albion Rrahmani breaks Rangers transfer silence after showdown talks with Neil Lennon

Albion Rrahmani breaks Rangers transfer silence after showdown talks with Neil Lennon

Rangers’ intention to increase the number of strikers available to them in advance of the following campaign has been evident throughout the summer. The injuries to Abdallah Sima, Danilo, Kemar Roofe, and even young Zak Lovelace left Rangers severely shorthanded in the previous campaign, putting a lot of strain on Cyriel Dessers.

Despite all of his shortcomings from the previous season, the Ibrox number nine accepted the job with dignity and gained the respect of Rangers fans in the process. However, Gers manager Philippe Clement is aware that this is a scenario the team cannot afford to repeat this season, thus the Ibrox team’s pursuit of a striker goes on. Now, Kosovan striker Albion Rrahmani has spoken out about his future with Rapid Bucharest after Rangers were advised to raise their price or lose out.

Rrahmani ‘focused’ on Rapid
Rangers have been linked with a move for Albion Rrahmani pretty much since the transfer window opened.

The 23-year-old striker has an electric first season in Bucharest with Rapid, netting 19 goals and courting interest from the likes of Aston Villa, Benfica and even Napoli. But it has been Rangers who have been most closely linked with a summer transfer, although comments from the Romanian club’s president has suggested Rapid are in no mood to sell on the cheap.

Rangers fans have been watching the situation closely with Rapid demanding up to €8m (£6.75m) for their star striker.

Now, Albion Rrahmani has been speaking about his future for the first time as he prepares to join up with the Rapid squad ahead of pre-season training and it certainly appears like he’s in no rush to move.

In fact, the striker has even suggested that after talking with new Rapid manager Neil Lennon – yes, that Neil Lennon – he only has Rapid on his mind.

“We want to give our best in the training camp, and I am ready,” Rrahmani stated, as reported by Digi Sport. “I took a short vacation, but I made the most of it.” Physically, I feel great. Neil Lennon and I got along well in our initial exchange. We have a strong squad, thus we have high hopes for the upcoming season. I believe we can take home a trophy if we continue to have good fortune. “I’m still here, I want to get ready, and Rapid is my first priority. I’m not sad that I haven’t left yet because I work like a professional and always give my all in any situation.
Rangers transfer ‘fell through’
Speaking specifically about the move to Rangers, the report quotes Rrahmani as saying the transfer ‘fell through’.

In interesting comments, the striker appears to keep the door open to a switch to Rangers with the transfer window still open for another two months.

Sounding very relaxed about the entire thing, Rrahmani claims it will take a ‘favourable offer’ to tempt Rapid into selling and until such a time, he’ll be going nowhere.

“The top scorer title is a goal, but the main one remains winning a trophy with Rapid,” said Rrahmani.”I learned a lot last season, even if it was upsetting. I hope that next season will not bring us any more misfortune. “It’s unclear what will happen, but the transfer window is open until September 1st. We will meet to talk if there is a good offer for both the club and me. There are several strikers who are being heavily linked to a summer transfer to Rangers besides Albion Rrahmani. According to reports, the Ibrox team will support Moroccan striker Hamza Igamane in a significant declaration of Rangers’ commitment.
