3 Cowboys with the biggest opportunity in 2024

3 Cowboys with the biggest opportunity in 2024

At this point, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be in their prime in 2024. Even though they are still regarded as one of the conference’s best teams, several young players will need to step up significantly if the Cowboys are to become the club that everyone ultimately wants to see. As the Cowboys prepare for training camp in Oxnard, California, they have a list of guys who should be given their greatest shot yet. There are unanswered questions regarding every player on the roster. In preparation for the 2024 season, we examine three that offer the greatest potential. Three Cowboys this season that have the most opportunity Here, a number of players could be suitable.

Not only are the players on the roster counting on each other to step up their game, but front office staff members are also hoping for the best as massive contracts loom large and they attempt to keep spending under control. Players on this list are not only receiving their best opportunity to date, but by taking advantage of it, they will also be instrumental in this team’s success.

1. Jalen Tolbert

The first is readily apparent. Tolbert’s current season may be the most important make-or-break one on the team. The South Alabama product, a former third-round selection, is now in the lead for the WR3 position, but it is far from certain.

Although Tolbert has made very little of an impact in his first two seasons, the front office is hopeful that he can take this position and run with it now that Michael Gallup is no longer there and the Cowboys are waiting until the sixth round to select a wide receiver in the most recent selection. Winning this position won’t be simple, but it might drastically alter the course of Tolbert’s NFL career because KaVontae Turpin, Jalen Brooks, and perhaps an outside signing will be added before everything is said and done.

2. Sam Williams

This year’s pass-rushing squad is a very different picture from previous years. There is now a huge opportunity to enter and become the next in line. With Dorance Armstrong and Dante Fowler off to Washington with Dan Quinn, it has created a massive opening to come in and be the next man up behind Micah Parsons and DeMarcus Lawrence.

Sam Williams has not been shy about his desire for more playing time; this could be the perfect storm for Williams and the Cowboys decision-makers. The former Ole Miss star has been productive despite a backlog at the position, but now this will be the greatest test of his young NFL career.

With only rookie Marshawn Kneeland a true threat to his increase in snaps, the time is now for Williams to be the type of defensive player he believes he is, and the team needs it more than ever.

3. Rico Dowdle

The running back room right now is a complete mystery. With a deliberate plan to allocate fewer resources at the position for a reset, the Cowboys have gone to the well of old friend Ezekiel Elliott once more.

Zeke will undoubtedly play a part in the plans at the position, but Rico Dowdle, who many observers believe to be the finest of the group, has benefited much from this lack of aggressiveness at the position. Despite the fact that it might be a real committee method, there is a perception that Dowdle—who has never commanded an RB room before—may end up receiving more touches than anybody else in the end. Dowdle’s availability has always been a hindrance, not his skill. But if he can maintain his health, this could be the young running back’s best chance yet to guide a group of players who are currently limited to being the “forgotten few.”
