Van Bronckhorst set for ‘shock raid’ to land ex-Celtic coach
The former Rangers manager was just named head coach of the Turkish Super Lig club. He is also anticipated to immediately add new players to the first-team and backroom teams. McElhone, who has previously worked for Celtic, Hibs, Tottenham Hotspur, and the New England Revolution, appears to be a prime option for Van Bronckhorst to sign with Besiktas.
According to the Daily Record, Van Bronckhorst plans to attack Queen’s Park for the highly regarded coach. McElhone was Celtic’s head of sport science before heading to Hampden with Queen’s Park to lead academy coaching. Van Bronckhorst is claimed to have met McElhone while managing Rangers in Scotland.
Meanwhile, Van Bronckhorst earlier conceded he left Rangers ‘in the wrong way’. Insisting that his leaving was still painful, he said: “I’m not sure if it makes it more difficult to return to a club where you were previously successful.” “I used to play for Rangers and later became their manager. And I departed in the wrong way, which was not my intention.
“Of course, Feyenoord is my favourite club; everyone knows that. I initially entered there when I was seven years old. However, nothing is happening at the time. “I have not had to think about it yet. Of course, I had a fantastic experience at Feyenoord. Four years as an assistant, four years as a manager.
