Joe Hart provides Celtic with a reality check on the Martin Dubravka deal when a potential replacement isn’t approved.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper is on the shortlist of targets for Brendan Rodgers’ side this month.

Martin Dubravka, the goalkeeper for Slovakia versus Ukraine, received harsh criticism from former Celtic goalie Joe Hart, which may serve as a warning to his old team.

The winners of the Scottish Cup and Premiership are looking for a new No. 1 after Hart announced his retirement at the end of the previous campaign.

Brendan Rodgers is considering 35-year-old Dubravka as one of his top choices to take over for the former England international who is now a commentator.

However, after seeing Newcastle United’s goalkeeper play in Slovakia’s 2-1 victory against them in Euro 2024, the Celtic manager might have had some doubts.

Roman Yaremchuk scored the game’s winning goal.

After leaving the goalkeepers’ association, Hart was quick to condemn the Slovak goalie, pointing out where Dubravka might have done better to assist his team earn a crucial point in the competition for the knockout round.

Regarding the goal, Hart told the BBC that Dubravka would have to wait to see if he could come and claim it if the touch was significant.

Through the air, his thought process is ‘can I come, can I come?’ No, he would have had to spear him at waist height.

That’s a really nice touch, but Dubravka will be very unhappy with what transpired after.

It is 80-20 in his favor if he stands tall or creates a lengthy barrier once the ball is brought down, but he does nothing in the end and appears to be rather concerned that the ball might strike him. He will be extremely let down.
