If Max Kilman departs, Gary O’Neil might complete Wolves’ £20 million transfer for a “magnificent” treasure.

Manchester United has made an offer to Gary O’Neil, so he might have to replace captain Max Kilman this summer.

With the signing of Tommy Doyle, Rodrigo Gomes, and Pedro Lima, Wolves has expeditiously proceeded with their summer transfer window purchases.

It’s a welcome departure from the previous summer, when Julen Lopetegui left the club after the cash-strapped Wanderers failed to support him.

As stars such as Matheus Nunes and Ruben Neves left Molineux, Fosun helped arrange deals for some of their best players as well.

Although it seems defender Max Kilman is drawing the most interest right now, Pedro Neto is the most recent coveted asset anticipated to depart the team this summer.

Man United wants Max Kilman, a defender for Wolves. Kilman, along with William Saliba of Arsenal, played every minute of the Premier League in 2023–24, making him Gary O’Neil’s most used individual.

The 27-year-old thrived alongside Craig Dawson, but both Kilman and the Wolves back three collapsed when the veteran sustained an injury in March.

Despite his end-of-season collapse, clubs are still interested in the Englishman. Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for the Wolves center-back after failing to land Jarrad Branthwaite and other defensive targets.

Wolves have apparently put a £45 million price tag on Kilman’s head, but given that West Ham and Tottenham have entered the race, interest in signing him is significant. O’Neil must sell Kilman.

Fortunately, an excellent substitute might be offered for a little portion of the asking price if the Old Gold decide to sell their captain for that much.

If Max Kilman departs, Wolves should sign Jacob Greaves of Hull City.

The most recent Hull player to be connected to a Premier League transfer is Jacob Greaves, who might go down the same path as other academy grads Jarrod Bowen and Keane Lewis-Potter.

Under Liam Rosenior’s guidance, the 23-year-old made quick development last season, helping Hull narrowly miss the playoffs and earning a spot on the Championship Team of the Season.

As he led by example in the center of Rosenior’s defense, the Tigers vice captain earned his spot on the team.

He displayed “magnificent” qualities that will help him succeed at England’s top table, such as his ability to drive out of defense, distribute the ball expertly, win aerial duels, and stifle opposition attacks.

According to FBref, when compared to other Championship defenders, the Englishman was in the top 4% for aerial duels, the top 25% for tackles, the top 16% for pass completion, and the top 24% for clearances.

Therefore, it should come as no surprise that he has been courted by several Premier League teams, including Everton, West Ham, and Tottenham, with Hull reportedly seeking over £20 million.

Kilman may be an improvement for O’Neil at half the price if he leaves Molineux this summer, and that seems like wise business.
