Former Celtic great becomes the new coach of Accies Charlie Mulgrew, a former standout for the Celtics, has started a new chapter in his career as the U18 coach of Hamilton Academical.

Mulgrew joins the team during a personnel reorganization that was initiated when Elite Academy head George Cairns left.

Mulgrew had first interviewed to return to his old haunts as head coach of the Hoops U18 team. Mulgrew had enjoyed two senior stints with Celtic, the latter one lasting from 2010 to 2016.

Even though he acknowledged that he was excited to have the chance, he was unable to take use of it when Jonny Hayes was named Celtic’s B Team coach and Adam Asghar assumed leadership of the U18 team.

Mulgrew, 38, has been in talks with Accies, and the club has now formally declared that he has joined the team.

Having played in the Champions League, captained the Scotland national team, and made over 150 appearances for Celtic, the former center-back will be a valuable asset to the Scottish Championship club.

In between stints in England with teams like Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic, Mulgrew also played for Aberdeen and Dundee United.

Mourinho fights Rangers for the goal. As part of their summer signing spree, Rangers have their sights set on Yusuf Kabadayi, a young player from Bayern Munich, but they will have to contend with competition from many European clubs.

José Mourinho poses a threat to the Gers’ transfer pursuit of the winger as Fenerbahce is another team interested in him.

Kabadayi played on both sides, deeper in wide midfield areas, and even up top as a No. 9, showcasing his versatility during his season-long loan with Schalke 04 in the past. Along the road, the 20-year-old scored four goals.

Kabadayi’s contract is set to expire at the end of this month, and a move this summer may become possible if he returns to Bayern Munich.

According to Turkish publication Fotomac, Fenerbahçe is “stepping up their interest” in the winger after receiving approval from Mourinho to pursue the player.

There are also reports that Kabadayi and Bayern are in talks, but it is “likely” that he will be moved on this summer, and Rangers will face a formidable opponent in Mourinho if they pursue the deal.
