Wolves beat Chelsea to acquire the wonderkid from Brazil as Matheus Cunha completes the transaction.

With a little assistance from standout scorer Matheus Cunha, Wolverhampton Wanderers will sign teenage Brazilian Pedro Lima in a deal worth £8.4 million.

Wolverhampton Wanderers beat Chelsea to the signing of the highly-rated potential.

Pedro Lima, a teenage Brazilian striker, was signed by Wolves instead of Chelsea, with the support of star striker Matheus Cunha. On July 1, the 17-year-old right-back will turn 18 and sign an £8.4 million contract with Wolves.

Matt Hobbs, the sporting director of Wolves, has been attempting to sign the teenager for a number of weeks, but there were concerns that Chelsea’s parent company BlueCo may make a move that would ruin the negotiations.

Cunha was motivated by it to telephone the young man, who was still living in his hometown, in an attempt to get him to go to Molineux.

However, Wolves are offering Lima a direct route into their senior squad, which could mean playing Premier League football right away.

Lima has agreed to move to the West Midlands, with Sport Recife confirming a deal had been reached on Monday. Chelsea had been eager to send Lima to their French feeder club, Strasbourg.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers of England will receive Pedro Lima’s economic and federative rights as a result of a legally binding deal signed by Sport Club do Recife, the club announced in a statement.

“Customary conditions apply to the agreement, such as the athlete’s consent to the English club’s medical examinations.

“After all business-related acts are finished, President Yuri Romao and the football management committee will provide a statement outlining the operation.”

Cunha, who led Wolves in scoring the previous season, expressed his happiness over the acquisition on social media, writing: “Born in the same place and now a teammate!

As I watch you delighting our audience, I hope I can assist you with your adaption! Greetings.

Lima has so far in 2024 participated in 30 games for Recife in all competitions, including eight trips to the country’s second division.

He will be a member of the Wolves team alongside fellow Brazilians Cunha and Joao Gomes.
