Rangers updates on Rrahmani and Shankland deals – sources

Rangers are interested in signing Albion Rrahmani this summer in a move of approximately £5 million. On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior journalist Pete O’Rourke revealed that Rangers are looking to acquire a new striker this summer and will shortly enter the market.

The Rapid Bucharest striker scored 19 goals and provided five assists in 30 games last season, generating a lot of interest in him.

According to sources, Rangers are still interested in Lawrence Shankland, and Hearts would be hard pressed to resist down a “really big” offer for last season’s SPFL top scorer.

Rangers eye two new strikers as Lawrence Shankland’s twist emerges.

Shankland scored 31 goals in 47 games last season and remains a long-term target for the Ibrox club, who attempted to sign him in January. According to Football Insider, the Scotland international is willing to transfer to Ibrox this summer provided the two teams can reach an agreement.

Hearts hold the key to Rangers’ striker selection, as any move to sign Shankland would be contingent on their asking price. Rrahmani, meantime, has emerged as a new alternative for Philippe Clement’s side, and his goal-scoring heroics last season have propelled him to the top of their list of objectives.

Cyriel Dessers is Rangers’ main number nine after a hit-or-miss season in which he scored 22 goals in 54 games across all competitions, averaging one goal every other game in the league. However, there is an agreement at Ibrox that he cannot be relied on to lead the line as the club’s primary striker following Kemar Roofe’s departure when his contract expired.
