Cowboys Named A Trade Candidate For $60 Million Playmaker
This offseason, the Dallas Cowboys have been dubbed a trade candidate for Courtland Sutton, a $60 million playmaker. According to one source, the Broncos might trade their best receiver to Dallas in return for draft money. Sutton has been the focus of trade rumors since indicating that he will not attend training camp if his demands are not met.
However, Sutton’s contract was extended in November 2021, so he still has two years left. The receiver stated that he is merely looking for a fair pay hike, which should not be an issue. Other wideouts, including CeeDee Lamb, Brandon Aiyuk, and Ja’Marr Chase, are vying for big contracts. Denver appears to be safe so long as they make any move.
The team has a clear need at wideout after releasing Michael Gallup and still needs to extend Lamb. Sutton would be the No. 2 receiver in Dallas, opposite Lamb if he returns. No one should expect Dallas to start the season without a new playmaker, but the organization has made no changes to strengthen its squad. The Cowboys have everything to lose this season, with head coach Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott both on the hot seat.
It doesn’t help that Dallas still needs to extend Prescott for a massive contract which they’re hesitating on doing so. The price is only going up for the Cowboys who’ve been taking the cheap route for the past number of years. This could be why a Prescott or Lamb trade could be imminent this summer.

Other Potential Trade Destinations
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers have to make some sort of offer to finally get a replacement for Diontae Johnson, right? Pittsburgh has been in the market the entire offseason for a wideout after getting two new solid quarterbacks, Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. Sutton is still in a standoff with the Broncos so they may as well trade him to the top trade destination. The situation doesn’t get any easier for Pittsburgh as well after attempting to trade for Deebo Samuel, DK Metcalf and Aiyuk in this year’s draft.
They need some consistency to work alongside George Pickens and Roman Wilson. However, sources indicate that the possibilities of Sutton joining the Steelers are increasing. The good news is that it’s less expensive than dealing for another receiver because Sutton is merely looking for a raise.
Baltimore Ravens
According to one source, the Ravens came close to dealing for Courtland Sutton during this year’s draft. Nobody should forget that they still need a successor after Odell Beckham Jr. left. Sutton is several years younger than Beckham, so that is the biggest advantage the Ravens should pursue. Rashod Bateman is returning on a contract extension, but he hasn’t been the typical No. 2 receiver.
Zay Flowers and Mark Andrews have led this attack, but one setback to the receiving corps may spell disaster. They’re bringing Nelson Agholor, although his potential isn’t as high as Sutton’s. Sutton isn’t the best receiver option, but he can help Flowers out on the other end.
Kansas City Chiefs
Some would expect the Chiefs to have executed a wideout trade by now. However, Mecole Hardman and Marquise Brown will return as Patrick Mahomes’ new duo. Brown isn’t the type to be a No. 1 wideout, especially because Rashee Rice will be out for some time due to off-field troubles. They need a kid to supplement Kadarius Toney and Skyy Moore.
Carolina Panthers
Despite trading for Johnson, the Panthers are still attempting to improve their wide receiver situation. Carolina has been acquiring the necessary components for Bryce Young’s second season this fall, but they still lack some consistency. Enhancing a supporting cast for Young is critical to the Panthers’ return to playoff contention. As Adam Thielen and Johnson age, Sutton is likely to take over as the team’s top receiver.
