Barry Ferguson has revealed that James Tavernier and Connor Goldson’s future with Rangers

Rangers told James Tavernier ‘one to watch’ as summer Al-Ettifaq transfer mooted at Ibrox

Barry Ferguson has revealed that James Tavernier and Connor Goldson’s future with Rangers is “one to watch” during the summer transfer window. Both Englishmen have been linked with summer moves to the Saudi Pro League, with sources claiming Steven Gerrard is eager to reunite with the pair by bringing them to Al-Ettifaq [Daily Record, 24 April].

Although no official bids are known to have been lodged, Go Radio pundit Ferguson admits that speculation has grown in recent days and urges supporters to keep a watch on the situation. Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (13 June, 40:00), he said: “It has been talked about for well over a year now, and it has kind of heated up in the last couple of weeks.” “It will be interesting to see what happens, both have still got two years left on lucrative contracts so that is one to watch.”

Will Rangers and Philippe Clement sell Connor Goldson during the summer transfer window at Ibrox?
As Ferguson suggested, speculation around Tavernier and Goldson’s future is nothing new as both players have been consistently linked with moves away from Glasgow long before Philippe Clement took over at Ibrox.

Further fuel has been added to that fire because of the pair’s poor performances in the second half of the season which saw Tavernier slammed by pundits and Goldson even eventually dropped from the side before his injury.

Neither player will move on until there is a genuine bid received for their services, but it seems unlikely the Light Blues would be desperate to keep the pair this summer. If their asking price is met, both could well depart.

Ultimately, nothing appears to be imminent for either of these players this summer, but that can change at the drop of a hat in the summer window. As Ferguson suggests, this could well be one to watch.
