Rangers striker Sam Lammers appears to be set for a return to FC Utrecht this summer, with them keen on a deal for him.
Lammers and the Dutch side are reportedly nearing a personal agreement that will precede a permanent move, according to TransferWatch.nl.
After slipping in Philippe Clement’s eyes at Ibrox, Lammers played on loan for Utrecht for the second half of this season. With 20 games played for the Dutch team, he scored 11 goals and provided three assists, proving to be a huge impact.
They have made significant progress in securing a permanent contract for him, as TransferWatch reports that the Rangers forward is nearing a personal agreement.
That would be the first move in facilitating a transfer, and the Dutch team is still in talks with Rangers.
Although it’s unclear what price Philippe Clement and company are willing to pay for the striker, they are probably more than pleased to see him leave Ibrox permanently.
His January performances alone will have persuaded them that they can fetch a respectable price and possibly return a significant portion of the €4.1 million they invested for him in July 2023.
In any case, discussions are still going on, and the striker’s approach toward reaching a personal understanding is encouraging for the completion of a deal.
