Matheus Cunha acknowledges that at Wolves, he truly “wanted” to play alongside the “bright” £6 million Chelsea diamond.

The striker for Wolves, Matheus Cunha, has recently disclosed that he was hoping to play with a young player who was set to sign with Chelsea.

Despite issues off the field, Wolves’ 2023–2024 campaign was positive as they made great strides under Gary O’Neil.

One player who didn’t have much of an influence under Julen Lopetegui’s leadership was Matheus Cunha, but the Englishman was able to bring out the best in him. O’Neil gave the Brazilian a boost, and he finished the season with 22 goal contributions. However, Cunha had one wish that he thought would come true at Molineux.

Matheus Cunha concedes that he desired to play at Wolves with Pedro Lima, a target for Chelsea.

After obtaining Rodrigo Gomes from Braga, Wolves aren’t the only team to act quickly during the transfer window.

Chelsea is attempting to sign Pedro Lima. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues have agreed to pay £6 million to secure the young Brazilian talent. Cunha has already offered his opinion on the teenager’s transfer.

The Wolves player acknowledged that he wanted Wolves to sign Lima in an interview with the Brazilian publication Globo Esporte. He also mentioned that he knew the Old Gold were interested in the right-back.

Pedro Lima is gifted, and the future is bright for him. He visits Recife from Paraiba and has a very similar story to me.

I hope the best for him. “I believe Wolves were also interested in him, so I wanted to be playing with him.” However, he has made his decision.

Chelsea is a fantastic team, and I hope he plays and that we get to play with him frequently. Cunha continued by saying he hoped to trade jerseys with the 17-year-old in the Premier League at some point in the future.

As he is a boy who deserves it and who battled for it, thank God it began, we can converse briefly on the field and attempt to change his shirt.

Of course, we also wish him the best. My support will be with him, and I hope he has a successful future. Wolves will be pleased to hear Cunha discuss transfers to other teams.

Cunha stated again that his attention is at Molineux despite being linked to Manchester United early in the summer.

O’Neil will be relieved that the only transfer rumor he hears about is from teams elsewhere in the league, following his brilliant play at Wolves last season.

The 25-year-old will need to exercise patience while facing Lima, who will first join Chelsea’s associate club Strasbourg, as his progress will undoubtedly be monitored.
