Manchester United is interested in yet another Wolves player, but this time it’s a player who hasn’t yet been called up to the main squad.
Rodrigo Gomes is set to join with Wolves today, following a few days ago’s agreement with Braga.
Gomes joins as the first summer addition after Tommy Doyle makes his Manchester City loan permanent.
There has been a lot of conjecture thus far around the individuals who might be leaving this summer.
Pedro Neto and Rayan Ait-Nouri are the most likely departures from Wolves, who are anticipated to sell one or two prominent players to help fund their operations.
It’s now being speculated that one of the young players may be moving since Manchester United is reportedly interested.
Manchester United interested in Wolves goalkeeper Louie Moulden
Manchester United is reportedly now interested in Louie Moulden, according to a TEAMtalk story on Tuesday.
After leaving Manchester City to join Wolves in 2021, Moulden had multiple loan stints with different EFL teams.
Moulden was a member of the matchday squad for the 2021–2022 season, however he has never played for the Wolves first team.
According to TEAMtalk, Moulden has suddenly surfaced as a target for United, and part of the draw for the 22-year-old is his homegrown status and availability on a free transfer.
They have reportedly been keeping tabs on his development and are now thinking about making a move.
Moulden moved to League One team Northampton Town in January after spending the previous season on loan at National League team Rochdale.
Between the two clubs, he made 40 appearances. Jimmy McNulty saw him as “highly rated” upon his arrival at Rochdale.
Another United like player from Wolves
Given that Moulden has certainly never played for Wolves’ first team, this connection is a bit of a surprise.
Moulden’s contract is about to expire, therefore his next move is just a matter of time. There is no sign that he intends to continue working at Molineux.
At one point, there was a story that stated Sir Jim Ratcliffe was considering Gary O’Neil to be a member of the coaching team at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils appear to have been pleased with what they have witnessed from Wolves lately. If Moulden chooses to relocate there, maybe everything will work out for him.
