The midfielder for Mazatlán FC, Andrés Montaño, is planning to join Celtic or Rangers this summer in an attempt to finally earn a spot in the Premier League.
Rafael Guillén, the midfielder’s agent, maintains that if he gets his wish, he wants to see the player play at Celtic Park or Ibrox the following season.
In an interview with ESPN, Guillén discussed his client’s situation and his goal to get him into Brendan Rodgers’ or Philippe Clement’s team for the upcoming campaign so they can eventually plan for a future in the Premier League.
After moving up from the U20 team in 2022, Montaño has been a regular player for Mazatlán FC in LIGA MX in Mexico.
After scoring 21 goals in 56 games with the U20s, he has since managed eight goals and two assists in 61 games.
Although he is still very much in the developmental stage at the age of 22, his agents believe he has the potential to be a future Mexican star.
Clubs in his own nation are interested in signing him, with Cruz Azul leading the list of more prominent teams prepared to move him from Mazatlán this summer.
However, Guillén and his agency, El Cielo Management, aren’t interested in those movements; instead, they want to relocate to Scotland and join Celtic or Rangers, as that is where their aspirations for the future lie.
Because of our tight relationship with Celtic and Rangers, “we think Andrés can play without problems for them, but they are not the only ones,” he remarked.
We want him to jump that far. It is important to note that the English league has a scoring system, and depending on the league you play in, you may not be able to leap. For this reason, the Scottish league is the greatest bridge.
There are five higher-level leagues that you can enter more quickly: Germany, Portugal, Spain, Italy, and France. Because the Scottish league is at a lower level, Andrés may play more frequently.
We need Andrés to play, and he can play a lot of games in Scotland, so it wouldn’t help to send him to a league where he only plays seldom.
