Despite my distaste for social media, I was deeply moved to consider the prospects of my fellow Irishman under Brendan Rodgers after reading an intriguing Twitter (or X, as it’s now known) post regarding Bosun Lawal that a friend of mine had forwarded me earlier.
Like most Celtic supporters, I am not much interested in the English game; the only true reason I monitor their leagues is so they can assist me, if poorly, with my Saturday football accumulator!
But I do like to keep an eye on the guys we have on loan in England, and last season Bosun Lawal certainly caught some attention.
At the start of the previous season, Lawal moved to Fleetwood Town, where we were hoping he would do well under the guidance of Celtic great Scott Brown, who managed the League One team.
Lawal started off at center back, a position he occupied most of his time with the Celtic B squad.
Sadly, Scott’s tenure as manager that season came to an end, and Lee Johnson—whom we would naturally recognize from his time at Hibs—took his place.
Additionally, he used Lawal at the back, switching between the positions of center back and wing back.
We didn’t see Lawal playing in center midfield, a position where it appears he truly started to excel, until Charlie Adam, a name we will all recognize from his days at the former Rangers, took the job as manager.
I only knew how he was going from the match reports I read about Fleetwood’s games. He was frequently rated as a standout player.
Considering that he played defense for the first half of the season, his six goals and two assists during that time wasn’t too awful. He received an average rating of 7.07 from FotMob for each game.
As previously said, this was the only information I had on his condition up until this point.
