As the asking price is disclosed, Wolves are “still interested” in the long-term transfer target.

A past target has been linked to Wolves once again, which might bring the team one step closer to granting Gary O’Neil’s request to transfer this summer.

This summer, Gary O’Neil will be keen to bring in a new striker to Molineux, as the manager led his team through the 2023–24 season with a limited roster.

O’Neil’s efforts helped Wolves finish in 14th place, and the Midlands team may do even better the next year.

First and foremost, the manager will be hoping for a fruitful summer transfer window, since one former target is now once more connected to Wolves.

Boulaye Dia, a past transfer target, is someone Wolves are interested in signing. Wolves attempted to sign Salernitana’s Boulaye Dia on deadline day last summer, but the Italian team turned down a transfer.

Since then, the striker’s situation in Italy has been more problematic, since his playing time was reduced in March due to a falling out with the club.

Wolves have reportedly renewed their interest in Dia, who is expected to depart Salernitana this summer, according to Italian publication Tutto Salernitana.

The player, who could be moved for as little as €12 million (£10 million) in the next window, is reportedly “still interested” in the Midlands club.

Dia would be the ideal addition for Gary O’Neil. A former target who has a track record of scoring goals is not always available for as little as £10 million.

O’Neil has made it obvious that he wants to buy a striker, therefore Wolves will need to use the opportunity to eventually sign Dia.

The “incredible” goal scorer has struggled to play recently because of his falling out with Salernitana, but according to Sofascore, he still scored four goals in 12 Serie A starts in 2023–2024.

Wolves expressed interest in Dia last summer for a good reason—during his 33 Serie A games in 2022–2023 he scored 16 goals and assisted six others, totaling 22 goals.

Dia might be the dependable scorer that O’Neil sorely missed at Molineux last season, with Matheus Cunha playing best immediately behind the number nine and Hwang Hee-chan being used in a variety of positions.

Even if Wolves’ interest in the forward has surfaced once more, Tutto Salernitana hinted that other English teams would also be interested in him as he could be in high demand this summer.
