Dallas Cowboys legends Troy Aikman and Emmitt Smith pay tribute to Larry Allen
The 2nd of June 2024 will be remembered with sadness by Dallas Cowboys fans and the NFL in general. Larry Allen, a Cowboys legend, died at age 52. The former offensive lineman died’suddenly’ while on vacation with his family in Mexico.
The Hall of Famer and Super Bowl champion played for Dallas for 12 of his 14 NFL seasons. Between 1994 and 2005, he had a great spell with the star team. Allen was chosen to the All-Pro first team six years in a row, from 1996 to 2001. In addition, the Pro Football Hall of Fame honored him for his All-Decade team in the 1990s and 2000s.
Former teammates and Cowboys legends published tributes and condolences to Allen
Last Monday, the official profile of the Dallas Cowboys published the announcement of Larry Allen’s death, followed by an emotional text that emphasises what he represented to the franchise.
“Larry, known for his great athleticism and incredible strength, was one of the most respected, accomplished offensive linemen to ever play in the NFL,” the organization stated. “His adaptability and dependability were also defining characteristics of his career. Through this, he continued to inspire many other players by articulating what it meant to be a great teammate, competitor, and winner.”
Troy Aikman, Allen’s teammate for seven seasons, also made a special point of paying his respects and leaving a heartfelt message for what his former teammate represented on and off the field.
Emmitt Smith, a former Dallas running back, recorded a four-minute video on Instagram mourning his friend’s murder. He cried throughout and stated, “My heart is just broken…” We must use every opportunity and avoid taking people for granted.” “I am at a loss for words right now.” Smith praised him as a tremendous athlete and guy. “One thing I know about Larry Allen. He had a large heart and enjoyed life to its fullest. On the football field, he was a beast despite his limited vocabulary. And he will be greatly missed.
