Max Kilman discusses how becoming Wolves captain initially shocked him.

Following his summertime appointment as Wolves’ new captain, Max Kilman has revealed what initially shocked him about the position.

After midfielder Ruben Neves left the team after six years, Kilman assumed the armband at Molineux. Some fans are still in shock that the celebrity joined Al Hilal, a Saudi Pro League team.

Many people were devastated by Neves’ departure because he was a very well-liked person at Molineux. It also meant that a new captain would need to be appointed.

Kilman, who has been talking about his job as skipper, was selected to succeed the Portuguese. He acknowledges that there was one aspect of becoming the captaincy that caught him off guard.

Being captain comes with “much more” responsibility, according to Max Kilman.

Kilman pretended during the first several weeks of the 2023–24 season that the wristband was heavy.

Prior to the match against Manchester City, when everything changed, Wolves were having trouble winning the Premier League and were giving goals away much too easily.

At first, Kilman was having trouble with form; maybe the armband contributed to this. Kilman did, however, get better as the season went on, and he had a pretty good mid season.

Perhaps aided by the system shift, he had begun to acclimate to his role as leader. Social media users seem divided about Kilman’s suitability as captain.

Some individuals would rather see someone with a bigger personality, like Matheus Cunha or Mario Lemina, wear the wristband.

Kilman, though, has a different style of leading. He is reportedly a transfer target for West Ham United and Julen Lopetegui. According to a Wolves official, he states: “I’m clearly very composed and kind of a modern leader.

I make an effort to set a good example, support my coworkers, and be a good role model.

For individuals to whom it may not come naturally, the captaincy role might be challenging.

Kilman acknowledges that at first, the amount of responsibility involved took him by surprise, but that he is now at ease with it.

He continued, “There are a lot more duties than I realized. “I had no idea how much there was when I initially received the leadership.

Being the liaison between the manager and the players involves doing numerous interviews, having numerous talks, and making numerous decisions for the squad.

Kilman has done well as captain

Since replacing Neves as captain, Kilman has performed admirably.

After Neves, who was so frequently such an inspirational player for Wolves, it was going to be an impossible challenge for whoever was going to take over as captain.

Kilman can so be reasonably satisfied with the work he has completed. He always conducts himself professionally and with poise during interviews.

That was occasionally required in 2023–2024, particularly when there was rage over contentious choices. Some others think he could still speak up a little bit more.

But with players like Lemina and Cunha around, Kilman still commands respect from his teammates and has his own style. The team also has plenty of strong voices.
