Rangers will have to pay roughly £4 million to sign winger Oscar Cortes permanently this summer.

The Colombian joined Ibrox from RC Lens during the January transfer window, as Philippe Clement supplied much-needed pace and width to his attacking line. Cortes performed admirably in his first half-dozen appearances for Rangers, scoring his first goal for Clement’s team with a superb strike in the victory over Hearts. His campaign was cut short, however, when he was injured during a Premiership match at Rugby Park. Clement stated Cortes sustained a’severe’ muscle injury and was forced to have surgery, as he was ruled out for the rest of the term.

The 20 year-old has continued to utilise the facilities at Auchenhowie in recent days as he works his way back up to full fitness ahead of pre-season. And he could join up with Clement’s squad once again as Rangers look to complete a permanent switch.

Cortes moved to Ligue 1 from Millonarios last summer for a fee in the region of £4million. And the Rangers Review understands the French outfit will look to recoup that fee before allowing the forward to move on after just 12 months at Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Cortes emerged as one of the brightest young talents in Colombia as he emerged through the ranks at Millonarios but his move to Lens – who are part of the same ownership group as the South American side – didn’t work out. Cortes could now be on the move once again as Clement looks to add firepower to his ranks ahead of the Champions League qualifiers and new domestic campaign.

We’ll see what happens. I’m talking to my agents, Lens, and Rangers. Lets see what happens. “I’m waiting.”Since I began playing soccer, my dream has been to play for Real Madrid. My dream is to join Real Madrid. With hard work and sacrifice, I believe it is possible at some point.
