Despite doubts about Gary O’Neill’s favoritism, Wolves are interested in a defender for £8.5 million.

A fresh player who may be considered as a substitute for a player Gary O’Neil strongly admires has been connected to Wolves.

After placing 14th in the Premier League and reaching the FA Cup quarterfinal, Wolves are in for a busy summer.

Building on that will be the aim for 2024–2025, and there is definitely room to grow in that direction.

However, Fosun will need to provide Gary O’Neil with adequate support.

Although fans are aware that there may be one or two sales, it is crucial that O’Neil receives payment so that he may acquire fresh players.

Having a tiny squad hurt Wolves in 2023–2024; therefore, for the upcoming campaign, the manager needs additional options.

And it has now been reported that Wolves are interested in Farmalicao left-back Francisco Moura…

Wolves want to sign Francisco Moura, amid speculation about Rayan Ait-Nouri

It has been reported today by A Bola that Wolves are currently showing interest in Francisco Moura of Rayan Ait-Nouri.

In 2023–2024, Moura had a successful season with 36 appearances in all competitions. He provided five assists in addition to two goals. Moura only joined Farmalicao in the summer of 2022 after first joining on loan from SC Braga.

Last summer, he would make the change permanent. Wolves are one of the “main candidates” to acquire Moura this summer, according to A Bola, who notes that interest in the player has grown “increasingly strong” recently.

Moura is anticipated to come with a price tag of about £8.5 million. Farmalicao has a deal with the Portugal youth international that runs through the summer of 2027.

The claim comes amid continued speculation about Rayan Ait-Nouri, who was recently said to be the Wolves player attracting the most attention. He’s reportedly coveted by Manchester City.

He could be a decent Ait-Nouri replacement

It will be difficult to locate a Wolves supporter who is in favor of Ait-Nouri being traded this summer.

Under O’Neill, who gave the Algerian international 38 appearances in all competitions, the Algerian international was fantastic for Wolves in 2023–2024 and truly turned things around.

The 22-year-old is highly regarded by the boss, who will undoubtedly be sad to see him go this summer.

However, major teams might try to test Wolves’ commitment, and he might still go. However, given his recent strong performance with Farmlicao, Moura might be a respectable substitute for the star.

Only two Farmalicao players had higher average ratings than Moura on WhoScored, and they finished in a very acceptable ninth place in 2023–2024.

He appears to be a capable ball carrier, which is undoubtedly one of Ait-Nouri’s main advantages.

However, he also seems to have a steely quality, as shown by the fact that he tackles a greater percentage of dribblers than Ait-Nouri.
