A veteran Nigerian defender, has signed a contract extension with Rangers for the 2024/25 season

Leon Balogun, a veteran Nigerian defender, has signed a contract extension with Rangers for the 2024/25 season. The 35-year-old, who is on his second tenure with the Scottish giants, has extended his contract for another year.

Balogun joined Rangers for the first time in 2020 and had a successful stay in Scotland, playing a key role in the club’s title-winning season in 2020/21 and winning the Scottish Cup in 2021/22.

The Nigerian international left to join English club Queen’s Park Rangers in 2022, spending a year in London before returning north to rejoin Rangers last summer.

“I am very, very happy and privileged to be able to extend my contract at a club like Rangers,” stated Balogun. I’ve remarked in the past that I wish I’d been here earlier in my career because it motivates my desire to excel all the time.

I want to earn more awards and titles. “As a player, you want to make sure you are part of the history of this club because there are not many places in the world where there is a greater honour or a greater privilege.” Balogun has 46 caps for Nigeria, with his only goal coming against Central African Republic in October 2021.
