As the competition for West Ham United’s first summer addition under manager Julen Lopetegui heats up, Luis Guilherme, a young Brazilian, is starting to take shape.
Guilherme’s contract seemed to be closer to completion than Flamengo’s Fabricio Bruno, whose negotiations seemed to have reached a standstill.
“Advanced talks” for Guilherme have reportedly been held between West Ham and Palmeiras, according to Sportsbank. Journalist Fabrizio Romano adds that the player’s personal terms have already been decided upon.
These particulars suggest that a transfer may be imminent.
The transfer fee seems to be the biggest obstacle still standing.
According to reports, West Ham has put in a proposal of £25 million with a 20% sell-on clause, which would imply they would get 20% of any future transfer fee should they decide to sell Guilherme.
Guilherme is regarded as one of Brazil’s most promising talents despite his youth.
The fact that two of his teammates, Real Madrid’s Endrick and Chelsea’s Estevão Willian, are also highly sought-after young players serves to further emphasize this.
West Ham is keen to get Guilherme to sign, as seen by their aggressive negotiating style and readiness to pay a hefty transfer fee.
Guilherme seems to be the front-runner to become West Ham’s first signing of the Lopetegui era, though it remains to be seen if they can come to an agreement with Palmeiras on the fee.
Indeed, this is incredibly fantastic news.
