Rangers ‘interested’ in 6ft 6inch stopper after claims of free transfer agreement

Not a day has passed since the final whistle blew on Rangers season for 2023/24 without a transfer story emerging.

Since the advent of social media, there is an instant resource available to keep up to date that connects the whole world of football.

A fresh name has arisen in a position that already seemed to be protected for next season, with Rangers connected with adding a towering, but up and coming goalkeeper to their roster.
Rangers join the queue for Stojan Lekovic with domestic rival
The only obvious exit will be Jon McLaughlin, despite being a Scotland international, he doesn’t meet UEFA’s home-grown status requirements and, as a result, it’s easy to see why he hasn’t been offered a new contract.

Robby McCrorie has been suggested as a prospective Aberdeen target, and Liam Kelly is thought to have committed to a pre-contract with Rangers. Rangers are interested in acquiring 6ft 6inch Serbian goalkeeper Stojan Lekovic, according to Andre Oechsnar of fussballeuropa.com. Aberdeen is also keeping an eye on him. “Stojan Lekovic was at the top of the Werder Bremen list; he is one of Serbia’s best goalkeepers.

Glasgow Rangers and Aberdeen FC are interested in a deal. “Lekovic is a real bargain.”
Lekovic has yet to earn any international or age group recognition and is playing for Serbian oufit Radnicki who finished fifth in the Super Liga this season.

What is clear, is that Nils Koppen is casting his next wider than any of his predecessors with transfer links to Argentina, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia already.

Clement has addressed Jack Butland exit fears already
The obvious fear with a goalkeeper being linked is that Rangers are preparing for the worst and will listen to bids for Jack Butland.

A concept Philippe Clement has already addressed:

“You can only sell players if you’re sure you can get better for a lower price.

“You can then use the extra money that you have for different positions. That can maybe be a decision. But there are a few players I refuse to let go at any price.” When questioned whether Butland was on that list, Clement replied: “That’s a good example, indeed. I believe that is a critical issue for our team.” Rangers supporters aren’t foolish. They understand that if a deal for Butland falls within Rangers’ estimate of £10-15 million, it would be foolish to reject it considering how the finances might be reinvested in the squad. The manager will have a budget that he and Koppen will have to work with, however, any money that comes in from sales, should be sent straight back to him. Not that anyone wants Butland to leave.
